Messianic Psalms
Psalm 97

Psalm 97 is an important crying out, not just of the majesty and power of the GOD of Israel, but also of His exclusive superiority . . . in contrast to all other beings of worship. Psalm 97:1-2
The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. 2  Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. (KJV) . . . The GOD of Israel is absolutely supreme . . . to any other supposed gods or goddesses. The True Israel: (Gal. Ch.3); also: (Rom.1:16; 2:9-10; 3:29-30; 4:11-12; 8:14-17; 9:24; 10:12-15; 1 Cor.7:19; 12:13; Eph.3:5-19; Col.3:11).

Psalm 97:5-6 2 Peter 3:10-12
Psalms 97:7                   Heb.1:6
Psalm 97:9           Acts 1:11; Eph.1:20-21

When looking over the statements of Psalm 97:5-7, GOD as CREATOR, is certainly praised, but it is most critically directed . . . not just to idol worshippers, but to all the supposed gods which sit behind the idols. IDOLATRY IS SIN! http://hisservants.org/books_idolatry.html
http://worldlychaos.org/w_c_1_false_teachers_mary_worship.1.htm

Exodus 20:3-4 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: (KJV) . . . Emphasis mine.
Exodus 23:24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images. (KJV)
Exodus 34:17 Thou shalt make thee no molten gods. (KJV)  . . . Emphasis mine.
Deuteronomy 4:15-19 Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire: 16  Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female, 17  The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air, 18  The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth: 19  And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven. (KJV) . . . Emphasis mine . . . statues of Mary and supposed saints.
Psalm 115:4-7 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. 5  They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: 6  They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: 7  They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. (KJV) . . . Idols have mouths that cannot speak, eyes that cannot see, ears that cannot hear.
Psalm 135:15-17 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. 16  They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; 17  They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths. (KJV) . . . Idols have mouths that cannot speak, eyes that cannot see, ears that cannot hear.

Isaiah 2:8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made: (KJV) . . . Think of all the thousands of ‘churches’ that are FULL of statues . . . idols!
Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. (KJV) . . . Think of the millions of people glorifying and praising the statue (idol) of Mary in the Catholic church.
Jeremiah 10:5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. (KJV) . . . Idols have mouths that cannot speak, eyes that cannot see, ears that cannot hear.
Jeremiah 10:14 Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. (KJV) . . . Thousands of lifeless statues in churches around the entire world.
Ezekiel 6:6 In all your dwellingplaces the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your images may be cut down, and your works may be abolished. (KJV) . . . GOD shall one day take vengeance on the idolatry in all places. ALL places shall be freed from corruption of idolatry, no matter where they live, where they had erected their altars for strange worship . . . as another prophet reproves them; according to the number of your cities were your gods  (Jer.2:28; 11:13; 19:5; 32:35). Jeremiah speaks to the Jews there, but the meaning is the same. What Ezekiel means is, that it was not just a single part of the country that was polluted with their false gods, but that their FILTH was spread throughout the whole land wherever any people lived. When the LORD GOD threatened destruction and desolation to the idolatrous cities, HE meant exactly that. The doom of false religion is:  Certain, complete, visible, exposed, eternal, contemptuous. I believe GOD and everything that He clearly states in His Most Holy Word. I have been teaching the Bible since the early 1070's and I truly believe our slogan: "The Bible Has The Answer." . . . My friend, if you are a Catholic, PLEASE read the Bible and BELIEVE what it states! The pope does NOT have the answer to eternal life. The pope CANNOT save your soul, and the Catholic Church absolutely CANNOT save your soul from Hell. ONLY JESUS CHRIST can save your soul and keep you from the depths of Hell. PLEASE BELIEVE GOD!!!

Psalm 97:7 conveys the critical point that all the so-called supernatural powers are to worship the LORD GOD of Israel as the Supreme CREATOR. What makes Psalm 97:7 so important, is not just that it affirms that the LORD GOD or JEHOVAH (Ex.6:3; Ps.83:18; Isa.12:2; 26:4) is to be the sole Object of reverence and worship, for both mortals and angelic beings, and we are to approach this in this way because it shows us that JESUS is the MESSIAH. Hebrews 1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. (KJV) . . . The word firstbegotten is rightly recognized to be a title of a first status or rank, or firstborn as seen in the Old Testament (Ex.4:22; Ps.89:27; Jer.31:9).

Psalm 97 demands that the world in general and all supernatural forces acknowledge the GOD of Israel as the One and only TRUE GOD. Hebrews 1:6 guides the worship to this One TRUE GOD to JESUS the MESSIAH. Consider: IF JESUS the MESSIAH was a created being of some sort, a supernatural entity, but only the highest ranking member of the Heavenly host . . . then to apply Psalm 97:7 to Him would be blasphemy against the GOD of Israel. The only way that Psalm 97:7 can be legitimately applied to JESUS the MESSIAH, is IF He is united into the Divine Identity as the uncreated, eternal SON of GOD, the Second PERSON of our awesome TRIUNE GOD!  http://www.lastdaysprophecy.org/L_D_books_our_awesome_triune_god.html

Shortly before His ascension, CHRIST JESUS reminded the disciples about some of the things He had taught them. He brought to their attention the truth that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me (Lk. 24:44).
From Genesis to Malachi, we can see the enlightened message of the Coming SAVIOUR, the Seed of David (Ps.132:11), the Suffering Servant (Isa.42:1), the Prince of Peace (Isa.9:6). As the statements of the LORD reveal, the Book of Psalms also previewed His Coming and His magnificent work.

What are conditions classify a Psalm as MESSIANIC? (1). JESUS said the Psalms spoke of Him (Lk. 24:44). (2). Certain Psalms are considered MESSIANIC, because New Testament writers quote them. http://www.godcannotlie.org/messianic_psalms_quoted_in_NT.html

The Nature of CHRIST.
The nature of CHRIST is one area the MESSIANIC Psalms. The Name for deity, GOD, is applied to CHRIST JESUS by none less than the ALMIGHTY FATHER Himself.
Psalm 45:6-7  Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. 7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. (KJV)
Hebrews 1:8-9  But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. (KJV)

The prophetic Scriptures also recognize His Humanity.
Psalm 8:4-6 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. 6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: (KJV)
Hebrews 1:6-9 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. 7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. 8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. (KJV)

CHRIST’s Work is to be considered.
Besides the nature of CHRIST, the Psalms also predicted His work.
Psalm 40:7-8 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, 8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. (KJV)
Hebrews 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. (KJV)
The roles of both king and priest would be a vital part in His work.
(KJV)

CHRIST’s atoning work as priest is observed in the following prophetic declaration.
Psalm 110:4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. (KJV)
Hebrews 5:6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. (KJV)
Hebrews 5:10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. (KJV)
Hebrews 7:17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. (KJV)
Hebrews 7:21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) (KJV)

The Rejection of CHRIST.
As the Gospel records indicate, CHRIST JESUS was rejected by the Jews. This was no surprise to the FATHER, the SON nor the HOLY SPIRIT. The fact of His rejection was noted in MESSIANIC Psalms centuries before it happened (as well as other Scriptures like Isaiah 53).
Psalm 118:22-23 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
23 This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. (KJV)
Matthew 21:42 JESUS saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? (KJV)
Mark 12:10-11 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner: 11 This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? (KJV)
Luke 20:17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? (KJV)
Acts 4:11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. (KJV)
Ephesians 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, JESUS CHRIST himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. (KJV)
1 Peter 2:7-8 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8  And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. (KJV)

In connection with this foreknown rejection, the Psalms revealed an awareness of the LORD’S being betrayed. CHRIST Himself quoted from the following:
Psalm 41:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. (KJV)
John 13:18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me. (KJV)

MESSIANIC Psalms are known by the light of the New Testament and it quoting them.
JESUS’ Suffering and Death
There is no Passage in all of the Bible that predicts the suffering and death of CHRIST, the way Psalm 22 does.
Psalm 22:1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? (KJV)
Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour JESUS cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (KJV)
Mark 15:34 And at the ninth hour JESUS cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (KJV)

The antagonism and malice of the crowd is perceived.
Psalm 22:8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. (KJV)
Matthew 27:43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. (KJV)

Details relating to His death were prophesied.
Psalm 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. (KJV)
John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. (KJV)

They part my garments among them.
Psalm 22:18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. (KJV)
Matthew 27:35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. (KJV)
Luke 23:34 Then said JESUS, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. (KJV)
John 19:24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did. (KJV)

The Resurrection
One of the most remarkable features of the MESSIANIC Psalms is found in the prophecy of JESUS’ resurrection.
Psalm 16:8-10 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. 10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. (KJV)
Acts 2:29-31 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. 30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up CHRIST to sit on his throne; 31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of CHRIST, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. (KJV) . . . Peter, by the SPIRIT of TRUTH (Jn. 16:13-14), confirmed that David was a prophet, and that he did foresee and spoke of the resurrection of the CHRIST (Acts 2:30-31). It is absurd that anyone would say that the psalmist is not teaching resurrection in Psalm 16:8-10.

Peter does not say that the language of Psalm 16:10 is just a good way to speak of CHRIST’S resurrection . . . He states, in a very clear way, that David was predicting (foretelling) the resurrection of JESUS when he wrote Psalm 16:10. Paul does the same thing in Acts 13:35-37.

Conclusion
The Book of Psalms provides a thrilling study of CHRIST JESUS, especially the MESSIANIC Psalms. His nature, His work, His rejection, His betrayal, His suffering, His death and His resurrection . . . ALL are revealed there. Psalm 2:10-12 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. (KJV)

GOD as CREATOR and the SOURCE of all righteousness and truth is well emphasized and amplified in Psalms 97. GOD is described: (1). as the SUPREME ONE before whom Creation is always on the threshold of total destruction; and (2). GOD is the FAITHFUL ONE whose goodness and holiness are always being disclosed to ALL peoples through Zion. The True Israel: (Gal. Ch.3); also: (Rom.1:16; 2:9-10; 3:29-30; 4:11-12; 8:14-17; 9:24; 10:12-15; 1 Cor.7:19; 12:13; Eph.3:5-19; Col.3:11).

The dissolution of the Earth mentioned in Psalm 97:5, may be a reference to both the First and Second Comings of CHRIST JESUS, a symbolic reference to the First, and a literal reference to the Second, when Every mountain and every island shall be moved out of its place (Rev.6:14).
Most think this Psalm was written by David, but it is not clear what prompted him to write it.

One version says: A Psalm of David in which he predicts the arrival of CHRIST (in the flesh) and His last arrival (in judgment). Many evidences of Davidic authorship are worthy to consider but the name of the author remains uncertain. Much of this Psalm is in the Spirit of David's finest work, and yet many scholarly men think it was written to celebrate the LORD’S power and goodness in the restoration of the Jews from their Babylonian captivity.

Zion is often used as a alternative word for Jerusalem. It usually referred to a specific hill in Jerusalem (Mount Zion), on which stood a fortress of the same name that was conquered by David and was named the City of David.

CHRIST’S exaltation predicted.
The LORD JESUS Reigns in Power that Cannot Be Resisted (97:1-7)

There have been many that have been made happy in CHRIST, but there is still room for more! No one has reason NOT to rejoice in the government of CHRIST. There is such a depth in His counsels, a depth which we can never measure; for His reign is absolute righteousness and judgment coming from His Holy Throne. The government of CHRIST, even though it shall be a matter of great joy to the few walking the narrow path with the LORD, will instead be matter of terror to the vast majority who reject Him (Mat.7:13-14). The most firm, unwavering and daring opposition to CHRIST will be totally confounded when the LORD JESUS returns (Zec.14:1-5; Rev.19:11-21), putting an end to idol worship of every kind.

Psalm 97 is similar to Psalm 96 because of its message: Joy to the world, the LORD is come, which is wonderful news to those who love, believe, trust and obey the LORD JESUS!

Psalm 97:1 The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. (KJV)

The LORD reigneth . . . (Ps.96:10), He has reigned in the past, He reigns now, and He shall reign until ALL His enemies are made His footstool (Ps.93:1; 96:10). The Universe is not without a Supreme Ruler. It is under the government of the ALMIGHTY GOD: Who is good, holy, just and wise, and He rules it well, and is in control of all its affairs. Dear one, do not ever deny that the LORD JESUS does indeed reign: (Ps.59:13; 93:1; 96:10; 99:1; 103:19; 145:13; Heb. 1:8; Rev.11:15-17; 19:6).
Let the earth rejoice . . . (Ps.96:11-13), not only the land of Judea and its inhabitants, to whom the MESSIAH came . . . there were just a few among them (Mat.7:14) that received Him, and rejoiced at His Coming (Mat.2:1; Lk.2:4-7) . . . but the whole Earth and they that dwell on it, the Gentiles, in Whom they were to be blessed (Isa.60:3, 5; 66:12, 19), to Whom they were to be gathered (Acts 4:27; 14:27), and in Whom they would find a glorious rest (Isa.11:10). Let the earth rejoice . . . all the Earth; all of it; all that dwell upon it. Just as the Earth receives whatever it has of beauty, fertility, magnificence or stability from GOD, just as beauty, order and productiveness are dispersed all over it, just as it has received so many proofs of the LORD’S benevolence toward it, it has reason for universal joy. When ALMIGHTY GOD comes to Earth, it is certain to rejoice. This speaks the First Coming, when GOD visited our sinful Earth, and was indeed a matter of good news and universal rejoicing. Dear one, it will NOT be so at the Second Coming, when all the tribes of the earth will mourn over him (Zec.12:10-14; Rev.1:7). The greatest glory of us humans is: Luke 1:77-79 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, 78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, 79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. (KJV)
Let the multitude of isles be glad thereof . . . the islands of the sea are many. The psalmist is clearly thinking of the many islands which are scattered over the seas. Not just the continents, the extended countries where nations dwell, but the beautiful islands . . . the small places of the Earth which have risen from the deep, and are covered with fruits and flowers  . . . these too, have reason to rejoice: for GOD has raised them from the waters, and He keeps them from being overflowed or washed away. He clothes them with beauty; He makes them the places of happy life. He places the islands in the oceans just as He places the stars in the sky, to beautify the Universe. It seems that the idea here is, that all the Earth has good reason to rejoice that the LORD JESUS reigns.

In July of 1991, a mighty volcano forced the evacuation of an American Army Base in the Philippines; and not long ago, the awesome eruption of Mount St. Helens in the state of Washington provided a similar demonstration of the fearful powers of the natural world. Such things naturally turn the thoughts of men toward the CREATOR. The ancients thought of GOD as the GOD of fire and tempest, earthquake and volcano. The psalmist in Psalm 97 mentions the clouds and darkness, lightnings and melting hills. Do mountains really melt? Recently we heard of that threatening volcano in Hawaii. YES! GOD can literally MELT mountains IF He so desires! Volcanoes are found worldwide, and the LORD JESUS is in control of ALL things in nature! It is NOT ‘Mother Nature’ who is in control of events of nature . . . it is the LORD JESUS . . . Who IS GOD!   http://hisservants.org/is_jesus_god_h_s.htm
http://www.judgmentcoming.org/j_c_is_jesus_god.htm
I do not think Psalm 97 is a hymn of CHRIST'S First Coming to Earth  . . . but of His Second Coming to the Earth.

Psalm 97:2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. (KJV)

Clouds and darkness are round about him . . . some say clouds and darkness are as a garment,  another, the King is clothed with a cloud and tempest. It is usual for heathens to represent their gods as surrounded or clothed with a cloud. Cloud, Appearance of the LORD in: (Ex.19:9, 16; 20:21; 34:5; 19:16-17; Num.11:25; 12:5; Deut.4:11-12; 5:22; 1 Ki.8:10-12; Job 26:9; Ps.18:11-12; 97:2; Eze.1:4; 10:4; Nah.1:3; mat.17:5; Mk.9:7; Lk.9:34; 2127; Acts 1:9; Rev.1:7; 11:12; 14:14). All of these speak of the unapproachable PRESENCE of ALMIGHTY GOD.
Clouds and darkness are round about him . . . describe the majesty of GOD, possibly resulting from the way that He revealed Himself at Mount Sinai (Ex.19:16-19). GOD is often represented as encompassed with clouds. Clouds is the common word to mean a cloud; darkness correctly means thick clouds, cloudy darkness and despair. It would refer to a cloud considered as dark, and casting misery over the world. The meaning here is, that GOD’S character seems to fill the mind with intense amazement, respect and wonder.
Righteousness and judgment . . . He is a righteous GOD and He is a GOD who will perform fair judgment. Even though He is encompassed with clouds, He is an unprejudiced GOD; and this is fitting to move the mind with deep reverence. The LORD JESUS will always do right, of this we can be assured, the FACT is, He will always do right, for He calms and eases the minds of all those who love and obey Him, and at the same time, He fills the minds of the wicked ones with great fear and panic.
Are the habitation of his throne . . . habitation is the place where one stands, or where one abides; a residence or dwelling. It means a foundation or base (Ps.89:14; 104:5). The Throne of the LORD JESUS continually persists in fairness, honesty and righteousness. Nothing else would maintain the government of the Universe. The LORD JESUS sits on His Throne, and He ALWAYS does right, and by His Throne, He is well known. Psalm 89:14-18 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face. 15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. 16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. 17 For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted. 18 For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king. (KJV)

*****Righteousness and justice are the habitation (foundation) of his throne . . . Although the following is not a direct quotation by the author of Hebrews, I think it certainly should be here. Hebrews 1:8-12 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. 10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: 11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; 12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail. (KJV) . . . But unto the Son, he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever . . . these are words that Almighty GOD spoke to His only begotten SON. He NEVER said this to the angels! This sets JESUS far, far above the angels! It shows Him to be a Prince and King. (Ps.45:6-7). CHRIST JESUS IS the SON of GOD, NOT by Creation, NOT by adoption, NOT by office, but by nature. JESUS IS the true, 100% accurate, natural and eternal SON of ALMIGHTY GOD.

Psalm 97:3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. (KJV)

A fire goeth before him . . . (Ps.18:13; Ps.50:3). This and verse 4 may refer to the fiery displays of GOD’S Divine displeasure, when GOD consumes His enemies. Fire is often represented as accompanying the PRESENCE of the one and only SUPREME BEING. He appeared on Mount Sinai in the midst of fire, thunder, and lightings (Ex.19:16-18). Ezekiel saw the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire (Eze.1:4, 27-28; 8:2). Daniel saw the SOVEREIGN JUDGE as being on a Throne which was a fiery flame, and the wheels of his chariot like burning fire; and a fiery streamer issuing from it, and coming forth from before him (Dan7:9-10). The apostle Paul tells us that the LORD JESUS shall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels, in faming fire (2 Thes.1:8-9) and Peter tells us that when the LORD shall come to judge the world, the heavens and the earth shall be destroyed by fire, the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, the elements melt with fervent heat, and the earth and its works be burnt up (2 Pet.3:7, 10-12). The apostle John saw the LORD JESUS . . . his eyes were as a flame of fire; and his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace (Rev.1:14-15; 2:18; 19:12).
And burneth up his enemies round about . . . dear one, NONE of His enemies shall escape . . . NOT one of them! This was true of the nation of Israel, who were burnt up; so that there was not left root nor branch in it (Mal.3:2; 4:1, 5), also see: (Eze.7:10; Joel.2:1, 31; Zep.1:14; Zec.14; Lk.19:43; 21:20; 2 Pet.3:7). This shall also be true of the wicked, at the general gathering of the world, when CHRIST Returns (Rev.19:11-21; and of the Gog and Magog army (Eze.38:2; Rev.20:8) after the resurrection. The LORD JESUS establishes and reveals Himself as a just GOD, inflicting vengeance on His enemies. He comes to reign, and in His righteous reign, ALL His foes will be destroyed . . . every last one of them!

*****A fire goeth before him . . . this is a prophecy of the Second Coming of CHRIST, when He comes to judge the whole world. Peter warns us what shall happen: 2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (KJV) . . . The fire is the forerunner to the LORD JESUS, which shall destroy all that hinders His way, and makes Him a plain road. Please do not doubt that CHRIST shall return.  Zechariah 14:1-4 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2  For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. (KJV) . . . And there shall be a very great valley . . . Jerusalem today is surrounded by rough terrain. Mountain after rugged mountain . . . huge boulders and rocks. Going east to Jericho, again rough and rugged. But, in "that day" there shall be a "very great valley" because GOD says so! This speaks of a future time. This is NOT today.

Fourteen Characteristics of the Millennium:
(1). ALL nations shall give the LORD glory and strength (Ps.96:7-8).
(2). ALL nations shall go up to the Temple at Jerusalem to worship the LORD (Ps.96:8-9; Isa.2:1-4; Zec.14:16-21).
(3). ALL the Earth shall fear (reverence) the LORD (Ps.96:9; Isa.2:1-4; 52:7; 66:19-21; Zec.8:23; 14:16-21; Mat.2:31; 25:31-46).
(4). Messengers among the nations shall declare that GOD now reigns in Zion (Ps.96:10;  Isa.2:2-4; 52:7; Zec.14).
(5). The world of wicked men shall be unmoved by wars, dangers and fears of any kind (Ps.96:10; Isa.2:2-4; 11:3-9; 35:1-10; Zec.14).
(6). Heavens rejoice because the will of the LORD is being done on Earth as it is in Heaven (Ps.96:11; 97:6; Isa.2:2-4; 11:3-9; Mat.6:10).
(7). The Earth shall be gladdened because of the glorious blessings of MESSIAH'S reign (Ps.96:11-12; 97:1; Isa.2:2-4; 11:3-9; 35:1-10; 65:20-25).
(8). Righteousness and truth shall fill the Earth (Ps.96:13; 97:2; Isa.2:2-4; 11:3-9; 35:1-10).
(9). The LORD’S enemies shall be destroyed (Ps.97:3; Eze.38:17-21; Mal.4:1-6; 1 Cor.15:24-28; 2 Thes.1:7-10; Rev.20:7-10).
(10). There shall be great physical changes in the surface of the Earth (Ps.97:4-5; Isa.45; Zec.14:4; Mat.24:29-31; Rev.16.17-21).
(11). The field will be joyful and trees of the wood shall rejoice (Ps.65:12-13; 96:12; Isa.42:10-11; 55:12-13).
(12). There shall be universal worship of the LORD (Ps.97:7; Isa.2:2-4; 35:8-10; Zec.14:16-21; Mal.1:11).
(13). Israel shall be restored and converted (Ps.97:8; Isa.11:10-11; 59:20; 66:7-8: Eze.37; Mat.24:29-31).
(13). The LORD JESUS shall be exalted above all gods (Ps.97:9; Isa.2:2-4; 52:7; Mal.1:11).

Psalm 97:4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled. (KJV)

His lightnings enlightened the world . . . to me, this implies not so much enlightenment, but instead terror and judgment, as appears both from the following words, and from the persistent use of the phrase in that way (Ps.18:14;  21:12; 77:17; 144:6; Job 38:35; 40:9-12; Zec.9:14-15).  This seems to be a magnificent description of the Coming of the LORD, which shall amaze His enemies and comfort His followers . . . although some say that the lightnings imply the apostles, who enlightened the world by their heavenly doctrine.
The earth saw, and trembled . . . the Gentile inhabitants of the Earth saw the judgments of the LORD upon the Jews, and were overwhelmed at them (Deut.29:24). It is usual for GOD to send lightnings and earthquakes together (2 Sam.22;7-9; Isa.29:6; 30;30; Rev.8:5; 11:19; 16:18).
The Earth is here represented as a discerning spectator, as it sees the terrible magnificence of the LORD and trembled, fearing it would be destroyed because of the wickedness of its residents. The earth saw and trembled . . . Judgment Day is an appointment that shall be attended by ALL people . . . there shall be absolutely NO one absent! The trembling comes because of the wrath of GOD, and the plagued consciences of guilty men (Rev.6:14-17).

Psalm 97:5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. (KJV)

The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD . . . the fire of the LORD seized and liquefied them, so that they no longer opposed His march; and the mountains before Him became a plain (Zec.14:1-4). This is the same prophecy as that of the apostle Peter. 2 Peter 3:10-12 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? (KJV)
Some interpret the hills as the kings of the wicked; and it was verified in Herod and his nobles, and the citizens of Jerusalem, who, when they heard of the coming of the MESSIAH, of the birth of the King of the Jews, were extremely troubled; their hearts melted like wax within them (Mat.2:1), so when JESUS appeared, in the power of His Gospel, in the Gentile world, and went forth in the ministration of it, conquering, and to conquer (Rev,6:2), all fled before Him; every mountain and island were moved out of their places (Rev,6:14) and the kings of the earth, and great men, ran to the rocks to hide them from his face (Rev.6:15-17). Dear one, similar events, but much more terrible, shall take place when the LORD JESUS comes to destroy the Antichrist, and to judge the wicked world (Rev.16:19). Some say that the hills (mountains)are the strongest and highest parts of the Earth, and they understand them to be the great rulers of the world who set themselves against the MESSIAH.
At the presence of the LORD of the whole earth . . . CHRIST JESUS is the LORD of all!  He is the Prince of the kings of the earth (Acts 10:36; Rev.1:5), and this is how He shall reveal Himself at the Great Day of His Return (Zec.14:1-4; Rev.19:11-21). That is why the proud and lofty hills and mountains, shall melt at His PRESENCE. CHRIST JESUS is the LORD of the whole Earth, and His reign shall not then be confined to just Canaan, but shall be over the whole Earth.
The LORD of the whole earth means He shall manage and support of the entire Earth. He shall be the universal Administrator, whose authority is NOT confined to any one place; but Who having created all, governs all that He has made. CHRIST JESUS is the CREATOR: (Gen.1:1, 26; Ps.33:6; 102:25; Isa.45:12, 18; Jn.1:1-3, 10; 5:17-19; Eph.3:9; Col.1:16-17; Heb.1:2-3, 10-12; 3:3-4; Rev.4:11).

*****Nahum puts down a great standard by which GOD not only judged Assyria (and Nineveh, the capital, in particular), but also the way that GOD judges the world and by which He shall judge the world in the future.
Nahum 1:3-8 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. 4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth. 5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. 6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. 7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. 8 But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies. (KJV) . . .  http://godcannotlie.org/nahum_ch1.htm

Psalm 97:4 says the earth saw and trembled. The picture is symbolic, the lightning is meant to set forth the sudden, swift sending of GOD'S conveying power, which amazes a watching world. The hills shall melt like wax . . . be they the literal hills, or the rulers who have set themselves against the MESSIAH. His Face solemnly proclaims how terrible its radiance is (Mat.17:2; 28:3; Mk.9:3; Lk.9:29; Rev.1:13-17; 2:18; 19:12-13; 20:11), and how easily the mere showing of Himself overpowers all things that oppose Him. Solid and majestic powers tower above His enemies’ ability to overcome Him, and they vanish into deep darkness. The LORD JESUS’ glorious PRESENCE and the resulting removal of obstacles clearly demonstrate His righteousness, glory and power. The Heavens are the scene of His Divine Arrival, although the Earth is the stage where this shall happen. The people shall declare His righteousness, because in them He has shone forth in His great act of the deliverance of His oppressed people. Israel shall receive the main blessing, but is blessed, not for itself alone, but that ALL people may see the LORD’S glory. Psalm 97 makes clear the world wide destination of national mercies, and Israel's place as being very important to the LORD.

Psalm 97:6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory. (KJV)

The heavens declare his righteousness . . . the heavens; either (1). The thunders and lightnings, and tempests sent from Heaven to plead His righteous cause against His enemies. Or, (2). The angels, and GOD Himself, who gave clear evidence to the righteousness of the MESSIAH.  GOD’S justice in punishing His enemies are as the lightning and the thunder in the Heavens, which are signs of His wrath and instruments of it. GOD’S wrath, which is revealed from Heaven (Rom.1:18-21), and the angels of Heaven declare His righteousness (Rev.16:5). It is also true of the ministers of the Gospel, who are CHRIST'S messengers, men of heavenly gifts and grace, whose work it is to declare the justifying righteousness of CHRIST, which is revealed in the Gospel from faith to faith (Rom.1:17), and which is therefore called the word of righteousness (Ps.119:123; Heb.5:13), and the management of it (Rom.1:16-21).
And all the people see his glory . . .  both Jews and Gentiles shall see and feel the glorious effects of His majestic Coming. They shall see the glory of His fair and unprejudiced destruction of His enemies (and ours); they shall see the glory of His power and grace in the salvation of His chosen ones; they shall see the glory of GOD the FATHER in the Face of CHRIST JESUS, His only begotten SON; they shall see the glory of CHRIST Himself, as the glory of His Person, His office, His grace and His righteousness, in the mirror of the His Gospel; they shall see the glory and honor with which He is now crowned with in Heaven. And ALL the people, all the chosen, redeemed and called people, shall see His glory for all eternity. This phrase seems mostly to regard CHRIST’S glory being revealed when He Returns, and His people's view of it at His Second Coming (Isa.60:1-5). Right Hand of GOD: (Mk.16:19; Lk.22:69; Acts 7:55-56; Rom.8:38; Heb.10:12; 12:2; 1 Pet.3:22).

*****There is total equity in CHRIST'S government, and all His people have reason to rejoice.
There is an unquestionable justice in all the acts of His government. There are times when clouds and darkness are round about Him (verse 2); and there are times that His special considerations are utterly puzzling. No human is aware of what He plans and what He aims at.  There is a depth in His counsels, which we cannot pretend to understand. Righteousness and justice occupy His Throne, and fairness runs through the entirety of His administration. His commandments are, and always will be righteous, because righteousness and judgment are the foundation of His Throne, because His sceptre is a right scepter (Ps.45:6). Even the Heavens declare His righteousness (verse 6); for both CHRIST and His government are as vibrant and as illustrious as the Heavens themselves. The angels of Heaven will declare it, for they are active as messengers in the administration of His government. The righteousness of CHRIST JESUS is unquestionable; for who can contradict or dispute what the Heavens declare? (Ps.50:6).

Psalm 97:7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods. (KJV)

Confounded be all they that serve graven images . . . let those who serve idols be ashamed, confused, disappointed. They should realize that these were NOT real gods, and that their trust in them was all in vain; and that they had shown great stupidity in relying on something that could not help them in their day of need (Job 6:20; Ps.22:5; 25:2; Isa.20:5). What is stated here of the worshippers of idols is true of ALL those who put their trust in anything but the One and Only TRUE GOD.
That boast themselves of idols . . . idols are handmade statues, graven images, that people use as their saviors and deliverers, but dear one, idols are NOTHING and can do absolutely NOTHING to help them. People praise and worship these idols, thinking they are the givers of good things to them, they glory in them and in their worship of them, which is nothing but insanity and stupidity.
Worship him, all ye gods . . . these supposed gods, the graven images and idols before mentioned . . . should bow down, and be prostrate before the LORD, as Dagon before the ark (1 Sam.5:3-4); or those that serve other gods, and all the nations that serve idols shall one day worship before Him (Rev.5:11-14; 14:8-11).

*****Some say that gods refers to kings and princes, civil magistrates, who are sometimes called gods (Ps.95:3), and who, especially in the latter days, shall serve and worship the MESSIAH (Ps.22:29; 45:12; 72:10-11; 73:7; 78:31; Isa.10:16; 60:3-5, 16; Rev.21:24); although
Some interpret gods to be angels (Heb.1:6).
CHRIST JESUS should be the desire of all nations (Hag.2:7), and finally in the latter days He shall be. The first preaching of the Gospel was a matter of great joy to them; not only the blessings it contained: love, peace, pardon, righteousness and salvation by CHRIST; but the effects of it, delivering them from the power of Satan, the god of this world (2 Cor.4:4) and from superstition and idolatry, with which they were enslaved; and the bringing them into the glorious liberty of the children of GOD (Mat.5:9; Lk.20:36; Jn.11:52; Rom.8:16-17, 21; 9:8, 26; Gal.3:26; 1 Jn.3:10; 4:4; 5:2).

The LORD JESUS Cares for His People, Provides for Them (97:8-12)

The faithful servants of GOD may well rejoice and be glad, because CHRIST JESUS is glorified; and whatever leads to His honor, is His people's pleasure. Great care is taken for their safety, but something much more is meant than their lives. The LORD JESUS shall preserve the souls of His saints from sin, from apostasy and from despair, under their worst trials. He will deliver them out of the hands of the wicked one (Mat.13:19, 38; 1 Jn.2:13-14 ; 3:12; 5:18), and He will preserve them safely to His Heavenly Kingdom. All those that rejoice in CHRIST JESUS and in His exaltation, have an inheritance incorruptible (1 Pet.1:4) prepared in Heaven for them. All those that sow in tears, shall reap in joy (Ps.126:5). Gladness is sure to the upright in heart (Ps.97:11; 105:43; Pro.10:28; Isa.35:10; 51:11); but the joy of the hypocrite is but for a moment (Job 20:5). Sinners shall tremble, while the saints greatly rejoice at GOD'S lovingkindness. GOD hates sin, yet He freely loves the repentant sinner who believes in CHRIST JESUS, and He shall make a final separation between the people He loves and the sinners He hates. He shall sanctify His people entirely, body, soul and spirit.

Psalm 97:8 Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD. (KJV)

Zion heard, and was glad . . . the good news came to Zion that all the idols of the pagans were confounded or overcome, meaning that the LORD reigned. There was joy in Zion that the evils and abominations of idolatry were ended, and that the worship of the LORD had taken the place of idol worship. The fact that the idols had ceased to be worshipped, brought great joy to the worshippers of the One and Only TRUE GOD. Whatever removes the worship of idols from the world, and extends and establishes the worship of the Living GOD, is an occasion of gladness.
And the daughters of Judah rejoiced . . . (Ps.48:11), especially the believers and professors of CHRIST JESUS and His Gospel; these rejoiced at the above things, and rejoiced in the spread of the TRUE religion.   http://www.godcannotlie.org/gospel_of_jesus_christ.htm
Because of thy judgments, O LORD . . . either the doctrines of the Gospel, which come from the GOD of Judgment, and totally agree with His justice and holiness; and are a matter of joy and gladness when they are spread in the world, and which succeed in the conversion of sinners, the comfort of saints and the glory of CHRIST (Ps.19:9), or His judgments upon His enemies and the enemies of His church and His people; which are also an occasion of rejoicing to them, because CHRIST is in that way glorified in His power, justice, truth and faithfulness (Rev.19:1).

*****The Kingdom of the MESSIAH, is like the pillar of cloud and fire (Ex.13:21-22) because it has a dark side towards the Egyptians, and a bright side towards the Israel of GOD. It is set up in spite of opposition; and then the Earth saw and trembled (verse 4), but Zion heard and was very glad to hear of the conversion of some and of the confusion of others (all that stood out against CHRIST). Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Because thy KING comes unto thee in His First Coming (Zec.9:9), and shall come again to her the second time (Zec.14:1-4). And not Zion only, where the Temple was, but even the daughters of Judah, rejoiced; the common people, the inhabitants of all the little towns, they shall also see the victory in CHRIST'S Return. The command (verse 1) is, Let the earth rejoice; but it is only Zion and the daughters of Judah that do rejoice. ALL people should joyously bid the Kingdom of the MESSIAH welcome when He comes, but only ameager few shall do so (Mat.7:14).

Psalm 97:9 For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods. (KJV)

For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth . . . The LORD JESUS is infinitely exalted above men and angels (Ps.83:18) . . . far above all the inhabitants of the Earth, He is highly exalted above every name, men of the greatest names that is named in the world; He is higher than the Heavens, and the inhabitants of it; and has all power in Heaven and Earth (Mat.28:18), as Mediator; and as a divine PERSON, He is the MOST HIGH GOD, and all this lays a foundation for joy and gladness in the saints; including the dignity of CHRIST'S PERSON (Jn.1:14) and the exaltation of Him in His Human nature.
Thou art exalted far above all gods . . . (Ps.95:3), not only the false gods of the heathens, nor the greatest rulers on Earth, the LORD JESUS is made higher than the kings of the Earth, who are called gods; but also higher than the angels in Heaven; for He is set down at the right hand of GOD, where they are not, and never were, nor ever shall be! All angels, all authorities and all powers, are subject to Him (Heb.1:13). Right Hand of GOD: (Mk.16:19; Lk.22:69; Acts 7:55-56; Rom.8:38; Heb.10:12; 12:2; 1 Pet.3:22).

*****Because CHRIST JESUS is glorified, whatever adds to His honor is very much His people's pleasure. They rejoice because of His judgments, which can take in the judgments of His Mouth, the judgments of His Hand, the Word of His Gospel and His miracles and marvelous wisdoms; for in these we must own and admit, Thou, Lord, art high above all the earth; Thou hast revealed Your sovereignty in the kingdom of nature, and Your command of all its powers, and Your power over all nations and over all hearts. Thou art exalted far above all gods all delegated gods, all princes, all counterfeit gods, meaning idols. The exaltation of CHRIST, and the advancement of GOD'S glory among men are the rejoicing of all the saints.

Psalm 97:10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. (KJV)

Ye that love the LORD, hate evil . . . IF we love the LORD JESUS, we will hate the evil of sin, because of the evil nature of it, and because its evil results bring death, ruin and destruction to the souls of men. Only the grace of GOD can prevent the evil of sin in mankind. The evil of sin
disquiets, distresses and troubles the saints . . . and it is hated by GOD, because it opposes His nature, His will and His law, and is hated by CHRIST JESUS . . . therefore those that love Him should hate it, shun it, avoid it, run from it and abstain from any and all parts of it. All those who sincerely love JESUS, above all persons and all things everywhere; and all those that truly belong to Him, His people, His ways, His worship, His Truths and His ordinances are they that have seen the beauty of Him (Isa.52:7; Eze.16:14; Zec.9:17) and know his love (Deut.7:9; Rom. 8:28; 1 Jn.2:5), and have had it shed abroad in their hearts (Rom.5:5). These will not only hate the evil of sin, but hate evil men . . . not their persons, but their actions and lifestyles; and will avoid them, and have absolutely NO fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness (Eph.5:11).
He preserveth the souls of his saints . . . (Ps.3:8; 37:39-40), the souls that are set apart by Him, and chosen in Him to be holy; those that are sanctified by His precious Blood (1 Pet.1:18-19), and by His SPIRIT (Rom.8:9) and His grace (Eph.2:8-9). The souls (the better, more honorable and eternal part) of these, were very dear to Him, for He has redeemed them with His Blood, and whose eternal salvation He has obtained, and they shall one day receive. . . CHRIST preserves these souls from the evil of sin, from its prevailing and damning power, preserves them from a final and total apostasy by it, from ruin and destruction by it, from being hurt by the second death (Rev.2:11; 20:6, 14; 21:8) . . . and He preserves them from all their enemies: sin, Satan and the world . . . from being destroyed by them, for He shall bring them safely to His Glorious Kingdom . . . therefore CHRIST is to be loved . . . and sin to be hated by them!
He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked . . . out of the hand of irrational, wicked men, into whose hands they sometimes fall. Many are the cruel and bloodthirsty persecutors and He is well able to deliver them, putting them entirely out of their reach. What an awesome LORD we have!

*****Great care is taken by the LORD JESUS for the safety of His people. Those that are loyal to CHRIST as a KING can be sure of His protection. Rulers are the supposed defenders of the Earth . . . while CHRIST JESUS is the TRUE DEFENDER so to His loyal subjects. They can put their trust in Him and rejoice because He preserves the souls of the saints. He preserves their lives as long as He has any work for them to do, and He wondrously delivers them many times out of the hand of the wicked persecutors that are out to do them in . . . for precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints (Ps.116:15). But it seems that something more is meant here than just their lives . . . for those that want to be His disciples must be willing to lay down their lives, and not expect to safeguard them. It is the eternal soul that CHRIST preserves, the inward man (Rom.7:22; 2 Cor.4:16), which may be renewed more and more when the outward man decays. CHRIST will preserve the souls of His saints from sin, apostasy and despair, under their greatest trials; He will deliver them out of the hands of the wicked one (Mat.13:19, 38; 1 Jn.2:13-14; 3:12; 5:18) that seeks to devour them. He will preserve their souls safely to His Heavenly Kingdom (2 Tim.4:18). We have very good reason to be glad, for we are kept safe by the LORD JESUS.

Psalm 97:11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. (KJV)

Light is sown for the righteous . . . As we live in this world, we can sow righteousness (Pro.11:18-19), or we can sow iniquity (Pro.22:8), or we can sow wickedness (Job 4:8). We ALL have a choice. GOD has given us a mind of our own and a right to decide for ourselves.
These above things are scattered or sown, as seed is in a field, and they will produce a harvest that matches what they have sown. So light that is scattered abroad, will produce an appropriate harvest . . . a harvest of joy. It will spring up around the righteous, and he shall reap that which light tends to produce: contentment, wisdom, joy and peace.
http://worldlychaos.org/w_c_judgment_according_to_works.1.htm
The symbol of sowing light is unusual, but the meaning is plain. Dear one, the righteous ones will not always be in darkness; for the LORD JESUS is preparing for them a harvest of joy (Isa.9:3; Eze.34:27), that will be as certain as a harvest will from grain that is sown . . . and even though there may be present day calamities, there shall be ultimate joy, peace and victory for eternity for the TRUE righteous ones, for they shall reap light and joy in time to come, in the days of the MESSIAH.  http://www.godcannotlie.org/saving_faith.htm
http://www.godcannotlie.org/true_children_of_god.htm
And gladness for the upright in heart . . . gladness = joy or rejoicing and compares to light. The upright in heart are those that have new hearts and right spirits formed in them, making them a new man (2 Cor.5:17; Eph.2:15; 4:24; Col.3:10). Joy or gladness (light) is sown for the righteous; arrangements are made for producing joy, just as preparations are made for sowing seed for a harvest.

*****Provision is made for the comfort of those that rejoice in CHRIST JESUS and in His exaltation. They have fountains of joy stored up for them, which will be opened sooner or later. Light is sown for the righteous . . . gladness and joy for the upright in heart. The subjects of CHRIST'S Kingdom are told to expect tribulation in the world (Mat.24). They must suffer by its wickedness, but they must not share in its merrymaking. For their comfort, light is sown for them; and it is designed and prepared for them. Whatever is sown will come up in due time; even though it may lie a long time under the clods, and seems to be lost and buried, yet it will return in an abundant and rich increase. GOD'S goodness shall bring a sure harvest. Christ told His disciples, at parting from them: John 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. (KJV) . . . An eternal harvest of joy is certain to all those who are sincere in their love and reverence for the only begotten SON of GOD (Jn.3:16), for those who believe GOD (1 Jn.5:10-12), are justified by faith in the LORD JESUS CHRIST (Rom.5:1-2). Gladness (contentment, joy, peace) is promised to the upright in heart, but only to those who are sincere in their belief, faith and love of the LORD JESUS. There is NO comfort, peace or serenity without persistent sincerity. The joy of the hypocrite is but for a moment (Job 20:5).

Psalm 97:12 Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. (KJV)

Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous . . . we all should rejoice in the Holy Word of GOD, rejoice in CHRIST JESUS, rejoice in His Gospel, rejoice in His Person, in the glory, greatness and fullness of it; rejoice in His righteousness, and in the eternal salvation available only by Him. Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. (KJV) . . . Rejoicing in anything or anyone else but the LORD JESUS is the joy of fools, which is like the crackling of thorns under a pot (Ecc.7:6), which is a bright glowing blaze for a moment, but leaving nothing behind but smoke and ashes.
And give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness . . .  of His necessary and vital holiness, for JESUS is a divine PERSON, (the Second PERSON of our awesome Triune GOD), in which He is glorious, and His glory is revealed in all that He has done; and the Holiness is shown in His nature and life, as MAN (Lk.1:31-35; 2:7, 11; Jn.1:14) and MEDIATOR (1 Tim.2:5; Heb.8:6; 9:15; 12:24), which is imputed to His people for their justification; and for us to remember that Holiness which they have from Him, and are made partakers of it in sanctification. WHY should we give thanks at the remembrance that GOD is Holy? Because He has said so, Be ye holy; for I am holy (Lev.11:44-45; 1 Pet.1:16).
http://www.lastdaysprophecy.org/L_D_books_our_awesome_triune_god.html
False Christians hate the doctrine of Christian holiness, for there is too much cross-bearing and self-denial in the doctrine of holiness for them. Romans 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: (KJV) . . . Since the TRUE believer is under grace, and his will is to desire holiness, he truly delights in the law of GOD. GOD’S Law demands holiness, and in the new man within us, GOD created in true holiness.

*****Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous, because all the streams of comfort, joy and peace flow to us in the channel of CHRIST'S Kingdom, leading us to the fountain of life (Ps.36:9; Pro.14:27; Rev.21:6), and encourage us to rejoice in the LORD. The fear (reverence) of the LORD is a fountain of life, and to depart from it, opens wide the many snares of the devil.

HOW can we express ourselves in praise and thanksgiving?
(1). Give thanks when we remember His Holiness. All those that hate sin are glad that GOD hates sin, praying that sin will not have dominion over them.
(2). Give thanks for GOD'S infinite purity, righteousness and perfection of His divine nature. We must remember Holy Covenant, which He has confirmed with an oath by His Holiness.
(3). Give thanks, not only giving Him the honor and glory of it, but thanking Him because it is a blessing to us; and an unspeakable kindness through His grace, that we partake of His Holiness.
Psalm 30:4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. (KJV)

What does it mean to rejoice in the LORD?

#1. It means warm pleasure, when considering GOD’S existence, perfection and wisdom.
#2. It means receiving great delight when discovering His will to us in His Word.
#3. It means our delight in relaxed and honorable relationships we have with Him.
#4. It means the great peace we have in His continual protection, guidance and influence.
#5. It means His gracious interactions with us in prayer and worship.
#6. It is the lively hope, to which all who love GOD, have a fullness of joy and rivers of pleasure for evermore, making them rejoice in the LORD with joy unspeakable (1 Pet.1:8).

Rejoicing in the LORD means that our joy in GOD is far superior to all our other joys. Our joy in the LORD should be the main spring of our joy in all the blessings and advantages with which His goodness hath supplied us. To be worthy of Him, our rejoicing in the LORD, must be continual and everlasting: it must not vary as our outward circumstances vary, but be the same in all the changes of our life. If we have health problems, or have suffering in the world, whatever may come your way, we are still to rejoice in GOD. To rejoice in the LORD is both a privilege and the duty of the righteous.

Rejoicing in GOD

There is no duty more reasonable, more becoming, more agreeable . . . but on the other hand, there is none more misunderstood and less requested than that of rejoicing in GOD. Joy seems to be the odd privilege of the content and happy creatures who love the LORD JESUS; for we know that we are sinners, wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind and naked (Rev.3:17),
polluted with sin, clothed with infirmities, beset with enemies, exposed to danger, grief and sorrow and headed to the lake of fire (Rev.20:15) without His lovingkindness. We would be utter fools if we did NOT rejoice in the LORD!

To rejoice in the LORD means making GOD the chief, supreme and sufficient OBJECT of our joy. True joy is made up of a delightful peace and a satisfied mind which makes us feel good.
GOD alone should be the ample and proper OBJECT of our joy. It is GOD alone whom we can truly look upon as a pure, perfect and eternal sovereign, and what’s more, He is our own, special GOD. Our joy must be continually and persistently on Him, or we are NOT worthy of Him!

CHRIST’S exaltation predicted.

(1). Psalm 97:5-6 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. 6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory. (KJV)
(KJV)

(2). Psalms 97:7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods. (KJV)

(3). Psalm 97:9 For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods. (KJV)
Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same JESUS, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. (KJV)
Ephesians 1:20-21  Which he wrought in CHRIST, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: (KJV)

LIGHT

Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. (KJV)
Genesis 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. (KJV)

Nearly all evil intentions and evil deeds begin with the thought that they can be hidden by deceit. Sin thrives in the atmospheres of darkness, lies and secrets. So, even with all its scary appearance, the kingdom of evil is really very weak. If we turn on the light, the cockroaches run and hide.

Sin Grows Quickly in the Dark

Job 24:13-17 They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof. 14 The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief. 15 The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face. 16 In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light. 17 For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death. (KJV) . . . For all of these evils, deep darkness is their friend.

Isaiah 28:15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: (KJV) . . . It seems that they actually felt safe from the warnings of GOD . . . thinking they were safe from death, and hell or the grave, as if they had entered into a covenant, and that those bad things would NOT invade them. The word hell most usually means the grave; which also seems most proper in this place. They felt safe and secure from Hell, or the grave, as if a covenant had been formally entered into between them. It saddens me that so many today have these same WRONG thoughts! People then and now, keep on keeping on in their sin with absolutely NO fear of GOD and the Hell He warns of, that shall one day be certain to come their way (Jn.3:17-19, 36; Rev.20:15). http://www.judgmentcoming.org/j_c_hell_is_it_there.htm

Isaiah 29:15-16 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us? 16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding? (KJV) . . . WHY do the wicked ones do most of their dirty work at night . . . as if the darkness could hide them from the all-seeing eye of GOD. Such works are truly works of darkness, but they CANNOT be hid from GOD, even though they flatter themselves they will. Dear one, GOD sees all and knows all! You cannot hide anything from Him! http://hisservants.org/is_jesus_god_h_s.htm
http://www.lastdaysprophecy.org/ld_judgments_of_god.htm

Psalm 139:7-12 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. (KJV) . . . Death cannot hide people from the knowledge and ultimate judgment of GOD. GOD sees everything, even in Sheol or Hades. Many think that the darkness shall cover me, but dear one, the FACT is that darkness CANNOT hide anything from GOD, even though the wicked still prefer the night for their dastardly deeds of crime . . . for darkness and light are the SAME to GOD!!!

Jeremiah 16:17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes. (KJV) . . . NO one can hide where GOD cannot see him. The Eyes of GOD sees all that we do . . . be it good, or evil!

Jeremiah 23:24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. (KJV) . . . No matter how secret YOU think your hiding place is, the LORD can see it very clearly! You CANNOT hide from GOD!
