HIS SERVANTS' MINISTRY

www.godcannotlie.org

Welcome to our web site

We here at His Servants' Ministry, teach the whole Truth of God's Holy Word. We teach God's goodness and mercy and Heaven; but we also teach God's righteous wrath and judgment to come and an eternal Hell, a Lake of Fire.

It deeply saddens me the way that the world is turning away from the goodness of Almighty God. The vast majoriy of people in the world today never, ever, think of eternity. They just keep on keeping on in their sin, and they really must think they will go to Heaven. My dear friend, there really IS a Hell, and there really IS a Judgment Day when ALL people will be held accountable for their sins. BEWARE!!!

“BUT I SAY UNTO YOU”
Introduction

Any time that Jesus uses the words, “But I say unto you,” there is a very hard lesson to follow! He was NOT doing away with the Law, or adding His own beliefs, but instead He is trying to explain to us just WHY God made a certain law to begin with. We miss the purpose of God’s Holy Word when we just read over His rules without really trying to understand WHY He made them!

We must consider three main points:
(1) The Law has ‘internal’ dimensions. We must resolve in our heart to obey God.
(2) We must not try to find ways to ‘go around’ God’s Law. Don’t abuse or avoid it!
(3) God’s Law has ‘ongoing’ demands. It is NOT obsolete, for God never changes. We cannot
discard it just because “times have changed.”

Fellowship in the Kingdom of God is a constant, consistent and intense thing. We must be reconciled to God and to our brothers and sisters in Christ. If we are at odds with our spiritual family, swift action on our part is needed before the judgment of God falls; and you can be sure, judgment SHALL most certainly fall! We must be ready for Christ to come, but please let me caution you, there are more so-called churches out there today, that are teaching false doctrines, than the Truth of the Bible. Please read your Bible; check out everyone, including me!
Run, fast and hard from false teachers!

SALVATION

Jesus said “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (Jn.3:3). What does it mean to be ‘born again’? When we are born of our mother (our physical birth), this is our ‘first birth’. Your second birth comes the moment you truly accept Jesus as Saviour and Lord.
John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (KJV) This birth is NOT a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan . . . this rebirth comes from God. Jesus said you can’t even SEE Heaven without being ‘born again’.
If we call on the Name of the Lord, we shall be saved. Acts 2:21  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. [KJV]
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (KJV)
. . . ANYONE who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved. Salvation is possible to all people, to whosoever!

Salvation (eternal life in Heaven) is easily available to all! It is not something you buy, or work for; it is a “gift”! God made salvation so simple that even a child could understand and accept it; yet the more education a person has, or the older he is, the harder it is to reach him (or her). God loves you! He does not want you to go to Hell; yet if you refuse to accept the “Gift” of His Son, which is eternal life, you most certainly will end up there.

If you do not know Jesus as your Saviour, you are God’s enemy! But once you accept God’s plan of salvation (Jesus) you are reconciled to God, by His Son.
Romans 5:9-10 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. (KJV) . . . ONLY by Jesus’ sacrificial death can we ever be put right with God; only Jesus can save us from God’s anger!
We are God’s enemies, but He makes us His friends through the death of His Son. Only Jesus can makes u God’s friends, and give us eternal life.
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: [KJV] . . . ‘Justified’: another term that confuses some people. Justified . . . just as if you’d never sinned! Justified . . . you are declared ‘not guilty’ in the courts of Heaven!
This can happen only through Jesus! God forgives all our sins the moment we turn to His Son to save us (from God’s wrath, and Hell).

NO one is righteous in God’s eyes, without Jesus. NO ONE! Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. [KJV]

We all are sinners, every last one of us! Romans 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. [KJV]

We all are spiritually dead, without Jesus! Romans 5:12  Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. [KJV]

Because of our sin, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (KJV) . . . God demonstrates His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. BUT you must believe and accept what God plainly states about His Son.

If we ‘keep on’ in sin, we receive eternal death. Romans 6:23-A  For the wages of sin is death; [KJV] . . . The “death” spoken of here is eternal  death, which is none other than Hell! The “lake of fire” is the second death (eternal).
Rev. 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire  and brimstone: which is the second death. [KJV] . . . There is a saying: “Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once.” Only Jesus can keep you from the “second death”. You must be born again, into God’s family, by belief in Jesus!

BUT, if we accept Christ, we have eternal life. Romans 6:23-B But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. [KJV] This verse tells us that ‘salvation’ is a “GIFT” from God!
Ephes. 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. [KJV]
1 John 5:9-12 1 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. 10  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (KJV) . . . Since we believe human testimony, surely we can believe the testimony that comes from God, and God has clearly testified about His Son. ALL who believe in the Son of God know that this is true. Those who do not believe this are actually calling God a liar because they do not believe what God has said about His Son. It all boils down to this:  God He has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whosoever has God's Son has life; whosoever does not have His Son does not have life. . . .
PLEASE, DON’T EVER CALL GOD A “LIAR”!

WHY???

When I became a child of God by belief in Christ (John 1:12-13), my life started to change. The closer I got to Jesus, the more I changed! Some people liked the change, some people hated who I had become; including (maybe especially) some in my family. “I liked you better before” was one comment. The devil surely tried to get me to retreat.

The Bible clearly states that if we do not change from our old lifestyle to one of obedience to God and His Word, we are not His children.
John 3:3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. [KJV]

2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. [KJV]

When I believed in Jesus, and accepted Him into my heart, He made me a new person, from the inside out! I’m not perfect, but I have changed for the better.
Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. [KJV]
My lifestyle changed, my friends changed, my heart changed, my thoughts changed . . . everything about me changed, for I truly wanted to please God and  to serve Him. Before I honestly did not care about other people; their feelings, their loneliness, their pain, their sin. I did not care about my own sin, why would I care about others who were living so far away from God! But Jesus made me do a complete turn-around! I don’t think I ever really hated anyone, but I did not love them, I did not care how they felt, and I did not have any compassion. Jesus can truly work miracles in your life . . . if you let Him!

Jesus did give me a new heart, a soft, tender heart that cared about others, that cared when I saw their pain, loneliness, sorrow . . . and especially their sin. I remember years ago, I heard a pastor preach a sermon on lost souls; that we should care about their destiny. At that time I did not think much about lost souls (those without Jesus). That night I asked God to show me something of what Hell was like. That prayer was answered . . . over and over again! There were times I wished I had never asked for such a thing! The poems that came at that time were nearly all on Hell. Oh! I saw glimpses of Hell! Each time God gave me another poem, I’d sit here in agony and tears as I wrote the words down. This is WHY I write as I do! We are to imitate Jesus. When we take on His precious Name (Christian), we must live as He would live, we must teach as He would teach. He said we must obey His commands (Matthew 22:37-40) which boils down to one word: LOVE!

Romans 13:8-10 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. [9] For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [10] Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. [KJV]

Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. [KJV]

John 13:34  A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. [KJV]
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. [KJV]
John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. [KJV]
John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. [KJV]

Acts 10:42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. [KJV]
1 John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. [KJV]

If we truly love Jesus, we will do as He tells us to do, and we will imitate His character as much as we possibly can. And LOVE tops out that list of wonderful characteristics!

I write the way I do (the truth) because I really do care about the souls of those around me.
I realize that what I write sometimes offends people. It is not I that is offending, it is the Word of God! I look back to before I had turned to Jesus, when I simply wanted to do what I wanted to do. What I write now, would have greatly offended me then!

Anyone who truly has a burden on their heart for lost souls, loves those people! Anyone who teaches or preaches the TRUTH of the Bible, truly cares about people, or they would simply do as so many today; preach what people want to hear! Preaching what people want to hear will never get a soul to Heaven!
Isaiah 30:10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: [KJV] . . . The people told Isaiah to “Shut up! They said, "Don't tell us the truth. Tell us nice things. Tell us lies. Times have not changed, most still do not want the Truth, but it is the only thing that can save your soul.

2 Tim. 4:2-4 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after teir own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (KJV)

I love and care about people, that is WHY I write the way I do. Jesus taught on love, yes! But He also taught on the horrors of Hell because He wants no one to go there. He wants us to “Go and sin no more” (John 8:11). He does not want us to continue in our sin, refusing to believe Him when He tells us it will lead us to Hell. Jesus loves you, and so do I. Neither of us want you to spend eternity in Hell. I must obey Jesus, that is WHY I teach as I do.

“BUT I SAY UNTO YOU”
Chapter 1
Anger Is Murder???

Matthew 5:21-22  Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: [22] But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.  [KJV] . . . You have heard that the law of Moses says, 'Do not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment,'  BUT Jesus tells us that if you are angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you say to your friend, 'You idiot,' you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of Hell.

Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.  [KJV] . . . Murder is a sin, according to the Old Testament Law. But, Jesus takes a step further! He tells us that anger is a great sin too, simply because it also violates God’s command to love. Many traditional ‘Baptists’ and other denominations most strongly disagree with me when I say that the ‘church’ is NOT under the Ten Commandments, but I firmly believe we are NOT under the Jewish Law but grace! I think Paul tells us plainly that the Law was abolished at the Cross of Calvary.
Colossians 2:14  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; [KJV] . . . Ordinance is a law, rule, statute, regulation, etc.

Romans 3:24  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: [KJV]
Romans 11:6  And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. [KJV] . . .  I believe that God’s children have only TWO commandments.

Matthew 22:37-39  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [KJV] . . . So in effect, our commandments boil down to one word: LOVE!  If we love as we should (like Jesus loves), we will do NO harm to any person. We will treat other people the same way as we want them to treat us.

Getting back to Matthew 5:21-22, when we harbor anger in our hearts toward another, it is like an inflamed, festering, and unyielding bitterness against a person. It is an extremely dangerous emotion that seems to lie in wait; causing us emotional hurt and increasing our mental stress. We never know when it will leap out of control, leading to violence and spiritual damage. Any time we permit this anger to stay within us, it keeps us from pleasing God. Continuous anger is a sin! Jesus said that we will be held accountable, even for our attitudes.

The Jewish teachers had been teaching that only actual murder was forbidden by the sixth commandment. They were not explaining its spiritual (internal) meaning. Jesus is showing us the full meaning of this commandment; which boils down to not hating our brothers and sisters in Christ, for this type of insistent anger is NOT love!

Jesus tells us over and over again that we must love each other!
John 13:34-35  A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. [35] By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. [KJV] . . . Jesus tells us that He is giving us a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you. Our love for each other will prove to the world that we are His disciples.
John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. [KJV] . . . Love each other the same way that I love you.                Jesus’ disciple John, also very clearly tells us the same thing, and his message is from Jesus!
1 John 2:3-11  And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. [4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. [5] But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. [6] He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.     [7] Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. [8] Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. [9] He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. [10] He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. [11] But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. [KJV]

1  John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. [KJV] . . . One day we all shall be judged, so we should rule our thoughts and actions now! “Raca” (Mat.5:22) is a  word of scorn, coming from pride: “Thou fool” is a spiteful word, coming from hatred. Any malicious slanders and condemnations we spout are like poison that secretly and slowly kills. Jesus said that no matter how lightly we make of these sins, they will certainly be called into judgment. We should be so careful to preserve Christian love and peace with all our brethren; and if at any time there is a quarrel, we should confess our fault, humble ourselves to our brother, trying to correct any wrong we’ve done in word or deed. We should do this quickly; for until this is done, we are unfit for fellowship with God. And when we prepare for any religious worship, we should make seriously reflect and examine ourselves (1 Cor.11:31).

While we are alive, we are on the way to sure Judgment; but, after death, it will be too late. We must seek peace with God and our brothers and sisters in Christ now! Don’t put it off!

1 John 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. [KJV] . . . We must love God and each other! We should love the Lord Jesus; place high value on His love, and love all our brothers and sisters in Christ, no matter their color, background, country they are from, etc. This type of love is the extra special fruit of our faith, and a sure sign of our being “born again” (John 3:3-8). But no one can rightly know the heart of another person, only the spirit of that man. Do you have anger in your heart against a particular person? That anger will hurt you in the long run! We must try to make things right. We must learn to eliminate that anger. We must go to the Lord in prayer. We must pray for our enemies. But, what about those so-called Christians, who SAY they are Christians, yet when you look at their lives, you KNOW they are not!

Matthew 7:15-20  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. [16] Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? [17] Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. [18] A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. [19] Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. [20] Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. [KJV] . . . I think each of us know people who say “I’m a Christian” yet out of their mouths come the worst filth, dirty jokes, cursing, lies and gossip imaginable! They don’t think twice about cheating you. These people are NOT God’s children! They are NOT your brothers and sisters in Christ!
2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. [KJV] . . . They act as if they are religious, but they reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that. So, what about these people? If they are not brothers and sisters in Christ, can we hate them for what they do to us? NO! We are not permitted to ‘hate’ them, but we are commanded to “stay away from them.” These people ‘go to church’ on a regular basis. They seem religious to most around them, but they are hypocrites, and our Lord condemned such people! He called them some very chilling names! We can hate what these people do and say, but we cannot hate the person, even if they are not a true child of God (Christian).

We as Christians, must be careful. There are many times we speak or act before we think. I am most guilty of this. I put my mouth in gear before I think! It usually brings me much grief, because once you speak words, you cannot take them back! We must not call anyone an idiot or a fool because these words come from anger, bitterness, rage or hatred. We need to distance ourselves from such sinful ways. We can, with the help of the Holy Spirit, live a better life; one that will be pleasing to God. Let us remember that a sinner is converted in but a moment; but our growth in becoming more like Jesus (maturing) takes a lifetime!

Consider the following:

  • Love makes hard hearts soft and gentle.
  • Love is like a fire; it consumes or it purifies.
  • Love is the only service that power cannot command, nor can money buy it.
  • We should love those who tell us of our faults, but we rarely ever do.
  • Most people need more love than they deserve.
  • Love is a basket with 5 loaves and 2 fishes. It’s never enough until you start giving it away.
  • If you truly love Jesus, you can’t help but love ALL God’s children.
  • Those who really love Jesus, have a deep down love for all lost souls.
  • The true test of love is loyalty.

He’s the Light that shines in darkness,
He’s the Sunshine after rain.
He’s Rest and calm assurance, after weariness and strain.
He’s Help, He’s Hope, He’s Healing,
He’s Love, forever true.
All that our loving Lord is, May He be this day for you!
. . . Author unknown.. . .
We must always imitate our Lord, Jesus!

“BUT I SAY UNTO YOU”
Chapter 2
Sexual Lust Is Adultery??

Matthew 5:27-28 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: [28] But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. [KJV] . . . Jesus said that you have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery,' but He tells us anyone who looks at a woman in lust is guilty of committing adultery with her in his heart.

Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. [KJV] . . .  Jesus says that anyone who even looks at a woman with lust in his eye has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

In the above verses, Jesus lifts His teaching far above that of Moses! And why shouldn’t He? He is the “Lawgiver” and also the “Interpreter”! The Pharisees (religious leaders) were teaching that ‘physical adultery’ was a sin. Jesus goes much further than that! He says ‘mental adultery’ is sin!

According to the Bible, there are three different ‘kinds’ of adultery: (1) Physical. (2) Mental. (3) Spiritual. There are parallels (things that are similar) in all three kinds of adultery. Spiritual Unfaithfulness (Spiritual adultery) and physical adultery are alike in many ways, and both are very dangerous. Both spiritual and physical adultery are against God’s law. Whenever we break God’s law, we are fully aware of what we are doing. Our hearts become so hardened to sin, and our relationship with God is broken.
Both spiritual and physical adultery begin with disappointment and dissatisfaction . . . either real or imagined . . . with an already existing relationship. The feeling that God disappoints you, can make you turn away from Him, instead of turning toward Him. We all feel disappointed and dissatisfied at times.  When we hold out against such feelings, they will pass. To give in to these feelings (temptations) is sin.
Both spiritual and physical adultery start with redirecting your affection from one object to another. To transfer our affection is the first step that leads to sin.
Both spiritual and physical adultery include things taking a change for the worse.  Usually it is not a decision made by impulse. The ‘process’ is dangerous because you do not realize what is happening until it is too late.
Both spiritual and physical adultery involve you creating a fantasy about what this new love can do for you. Any such fantasy creates goofy hopes of what a new relationship can do, and it will only leads to great disappointment.

Exodus 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. [KJV]

The Old Testament law said that it is wrong for a person to have sex with someone other than his or her spouse. But Jesus takes it much further than that! Jesus said that the desire to have sex with someone other than your spouse is adultery!
Matthew 5:28  But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. [KJV] . . . Jesus said that IF a person looks at another person with sex on their mind, they have already committed adultery in their heart.
So, if you have already committed adultery, you have sinned! Even mental adultery is sin, according to Jesus! He strongly emphasized that if the act is wrong, then so is the intention (thought).

What Jesus is condemning is the intentional and continual filling of one’s mind with fantasies that would be evil IF acted out. We must learn to control our mind and discourage every evil thoughts. You CAN control your thoughts! The Holy Spirit will help you!

So, if lustful thoughts are sinful, why shouldn’t a person go through with the lustful actions too? Sin is sin, right? Mental adultery is sin, yes; but physical adultery is harmful in several ways:

  • It causes people to excuse sin rather than to stop sinning;
  • It destroys marriages;
  • It is a deliberate and open rebellion against God and His Word;
  • It will always hurt someone. Sinful action is more dangerous than sinful desire. That is why evil desires should never be acted out.

So, is mental adultery any less of a sin than physical adultery? Sinful desire (unbridled lust) is every bit as damaging to righteousness. If we do NOT curb wrong desires, it will result in wrong actions, thus turning people away from God.

We can, we must achieve victory over the evil desires of the heart. We must make every effort to control our minds. Can we do this ourselves? No!  The Holy Spirit abiding within us will help us, but you must be willing to submit to His authority. God has offered a Way to save us from our sins, but not in them. All our senses and strength must be kept in check to keep us from anything that would lead us to transgress. There are those who happily lead others into temptation to sin: by the way they dress, by the way they act, by the way they look at you, etc.  I say to you; STAY AWAY from such people! They will be held accountable for what they do, for that too is sin (lasciviousness)! ‘Lasciviousness’ is tending to excite lustful desires in someone. It is simply uncleanness and unrighteousness.

Mark 7:21-23  For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. [KJV] Jesus’ words. . . . ALL the above are wrong! ALL the above are unrighteous! ALL the above are sinful! ALL the above start in the heart! ALL the above are hated by God and should be hated by us! God’s children must flee from these things fast, for Jesus says they “defile” (pollute, corrupt, violate) us! Are you concerned with this brief life on Earth, or eternity? Think about it! God will never, ever, lead you wrong! He cares for you. Listen to Him!

Galatians 5:19-20  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies. [KJV] . . . ALL these things are practiced by those who “walk in the flesh” (those who do not know Jesus; the devil’s children). God’s children (true Christians) are not to participate in such things.

Ephes. 4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. [KJV]  . . . Before we become Christians, we all do things we deeply regret after we accept Jesus! We all are sinners, every last one of us, no matter how good we think we are! Even the most moral person in the world is a “sinner” to God, if they don’t know Jesus!

1 Peter 4:3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: [KJV] . . . Before Jesus comes into our heart, we do the evil things that godless people do . . . their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols. This is still another verse that states how those without Jesus act. An “idol” is anything that a person places ahead of God. You CANNOT take on the Name of Christ (Christian), and live like the devil! Once you accept Jesus as Saviour and Lord, you are united with Him by the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit (GOD) abides (lives) in you! You CANNOT do the things you did before you became a Christian. If you continue to do them, you are NOT a Christian. It’s just that simple!

Is a Christian life easy? NO! It is not easy! It is impossible without Jesus! But if you are sincere when you turn to Christ, He will help you!

Matthew 11:28-30  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. [KJV]  . . . Jesus’ words. Jesus will shed light on your path so you can see! Jesus will make the treacherous storms of life like a peaceful, warm, sunny, spring day! Jesus can help you with your burden of sin! Jesus can give you “rest” (now and eternally) as no other can! Jesus can and will do all this for you . . . IF you let Him! He loves you!

“BUT I SAY UNTO YOU”
Chapter 3
Divorce Is Sin???

Matthew 5:31-32  It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: [32] But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. [KJV] Jesus’ words. . . . Jesus tells us that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. And anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

The Bible very plainly gives the grounds for divorce! If someone divorces for a reason not given in Scripture, that person is an adulterer, plain and simple! This is NOT something that people want to hear today, especially Christians! So, if people don’t want to hear it, why do I teach it? Why did Jesus teach it? Because it is the TRUTH of the Bible (God’s Word), and even ‘professing’ Christians today are straying further and further from God’s Holy Word!

Divorce hurts and destroys just as much  today as it did in Jesus’ day. What does the marriage vows say? “Until death do us part.” God intended, and intends, that marriage be a lifelong commitment.
Genesis 2:24  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. [KJV] . . . God clearly illustrates for us that in marriage man and woman symbolically become one flesh. This is a mysterious union of the couple’s hearts and lives. All through the Bible, God treats this unique partnership seriously. If you are married or you plan to be married, are you willing to keep the commitment that makes two people one? Marriage is love, caring, compassion for your spouse, and a marvelous friendship. The goal in marriage should be should be oneness. A marriage is only what you put into it. Most people say it is a 50/50 proposition! I say hog wash! If you want a good and happy marriage, you must give 100 % of yourself! If you do not intend to do this, do NOT get married.

God gave marriage as a gift to Adam and Eve. They were created perfect for each other. Marriage was instituted by God and has three basic aspects:

  • The man leaves his parents and publicly promises himself to his wife;
  • The man and woman are united, and take responsibility for each other’s welfare, promising to love their mate above all other people;
  • The two become one flesh in the intimacy and commitment of sexual union that is reserved ONLY for marriage.

Strong and right marriages include all of these three aspects.

It is quite common today, that when people marry, they think: “If it doesn’t work out, I’ll get a divorce.” This is terribly wrong! When entering into a marriage, people should NEVER consider divorce an option for solving problems or a way out of a relationship that seems dead. You should NEVER purposefully abuse the marriage contract, using divorce to satisfy your lustful desire to marry someone else. Your actions should help your marriage grow stronger, not tear it apart! Jesus said that divorce is NOT permitted except for unfaithfulness. Does this mean that divorce should be automatic when a spouse commits adultery? Not when the spouse truly repents of the wrong-doing. If you find that your partner has been unfaithful, you should make every effort to forgive, reconcile, and restore your relationship. Instead of looking for excuses to leave your marriage, look for reasons to restore your marriage commitment, and make it stronger.

***WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT MARRIAGE ***

Genesis 2:18-24      Marriage is God’s idea.
Genesis 24:58-60    Commitment is absolutely necessary to make any marriage succeed.
Song 4:9-10                            Romance is important.
Jeremiah 33:10-11  Marriage can bring great joy to the partners.
Malachi 2:14-15      Marriage is the best environment for raising children.
Matthew 5:32          Being unfaithful breaks the bond of trust, the foundation of all relationships.
Matthew 19:6          Marriage should be permanent.
Romans 7:2-3          Ideally, only death should dissolve marriage.
Ephesians 5:21-33   Marriage is based on the devoted practice of love, not on feelings.
Ephesians 5:23, 32  Marriage is a living symbol of Christ and the church.
Hebrews 13:4          Marriage is good and honorable
The ever rampant divorce rate of today is NOT what God intended.

“BUT I SAY UNTO YOU”
Chapter 4
What About Oaths???

Matthew 5:33-37 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: 34  But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: 35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. 36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. 37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. [KJV] . . . Jesus emphasizes the importance of telling the truth. People (then, and now) break promises and using sacred language casually and carelessly. IF you make a promise (oath, pledge) you should most certainly keep it, whether it is to God or to your fellow man. Keeping oaths and promises is very important; for it builds trust, making relationships possible. A person is only as good as their word. The Bible condemns making promises (giving your word) when you know you will NOT keep it; or swearing falsely in God’s Name (Exodus 20:7; Leviticus 19:12; Numbers 30:1-2; Deut. 19:16-20).

Oaths, or vows, were common in Jesus’ time, but He told His followers not to use them. He said that their word alone should be enough (James 5:12). Do people know you can be trusted to keep your word? The truth is so rare that we feel we must end our statements with “I promise.” If we tell the truth all the time, we do not have to back up our words with an oath or promise. So, is an oath in a court room wrong? No! Not if you take that oath seriously and with due reverence or respect.
But all oaths spoken without being necessary, or just in common, casual conversation, are sinful, just as all those expressions relating to God, for instance: “Oh, my God.” “My God.” “Oh, Lord.”

The worse people are, the less they are bound by oaths; the better they are, the less there is need for them. When someone says “I’ll swear to that on a stack of Bibles.” Beware! He’s more than likely a liar.

God’s children should be truthful and trustworthy at all times, in all places!
Numbers 30:2 If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth. [KJV] . . . Anyone who makes a vow to the Lord or makes a pledge under oath must never break it. He must do exactly what he said he would do.
Moses told the people that their promises to God and others must be kept. In ancient times, people did not sign written contracts. A person’s word was (and should be) as binding as a signature. In those days, to make a vow even more binding, an offering was given along with it. No one was forced by law to make a vow; but once made, the vows had to be fulfilled. Breaking a vow meant a broken trust and a broken relationship. Trust and truth is still the basis of our relationships with God and others. A broken promise today is just as harmful as it was in Moses’ day.
So, if you tell the truth, you do NOT need to back it up with “I promise.” or “Honest.” All you need is a simple “Yes” or “No”.

“BUT I SAY UNTO YOU”
Chapter 5
An Eye for an Eye???

Matthew 5:38-39 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39  But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. [KJV] . . . Many people do not understand what this means. God’s purpose behind this law was to show His mercy. The law was given to judges to help them find the proper punishment for the crime. It was NOT a guide for personal revenge (Exodus 21:23-25; Leviticus 24:19-20; Deut. 19:21). These laws were given to limit vengeance and help the court administer punishment that was neither too strict nor too lenient. But some of the people were using this law to justify their quarrels against others. People still try to excuse their acts of revenge by saying, “I was just doing to him what he did to me.”

When we are wronged or hurt, most often our first reaction is to “get even”. But, what does Jesus say?  Jesus said we should do good to those who wrong us! We should never desire to ‘keep score’, but to love and forgive. This is not natural. It is totally against what most people think and do! Only God can give us the strength to love as He loves. Instead of planning vengeance, pray for those who hurt you.

To many Jews of Jesus’ day, this statement was offensive. Any Messiah who would turn the other cheek was not the military leader they wanted to lead a revolt against Rome. Since they were under Roman oppression, they wanted retaliation against their enemies, whom they hated. But Jesus suggested a new, radical response to injustice: instead of demanding your rights, give them up freely! When Jesus tells us not to retaliate, He means for us NOT to take the law into our own hands. When we love and pray for our enemies, we can overcome evil with good.

Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord. [KJV] . . . The Pharisees interpreted this as teaching that they should love only those who love in return.

Psalm 140:9-11 As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them. 10  Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again. [KJV] . . . They interpreted this as meaning that they should hate their enemies. But, what does Jesus say?  We are to LOVE our enemies. If you love (have care, concern, compassion) your enemies, you will truly show others that Jesus is Lord of your life. This is impossible without Jesus! This is possible only for those who give themselves fully to the Lord Jesus, because only He can deliver us from our natural selfishness. We must trust the Holy Spirit to help us show love to those for whom we may not feel love. Christians must avoid disputes and strife. If we will act upon the right teachings of Jesus, we will have peace, joy, and contentment in life.

“BUT I SAY UNTO YOU”
Chapter 6
Love Your Enemies???

Matthew 5:43-48  Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46  For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47  And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. [KJV] . . .  The Jewish religious leaders (teachers) interpreted “neighbour” as only those of their own country, nation, and religion. These they considered their ‘friends.’ But what does our Lord Jesus say?  He very plainly states that we must do all the real kindness we can to all, especially to their souls. He says: “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” I don’t know about you, but I cannot do this! Not without a truck-load of help! Love my enemies? Bless them that curse me? Do good to anyone who hates me? Pray for anyone who persecutes me or treats me cruel and/or with malice? This is a very hard lesson! Extremely difficult! But if we take on the Name of Christ (Christian), we must live as He lived, we must do as He says! We must pray for them.  Many people return good for good; but we must go beyond that! We must return good for evil if we are to be God’s children. Many greet their brethren, and embrace those of their own little group. But we must not restrict our attentions in this manner. It should be our desire, our aim, to press onward to becoming more like Jesus every day. We must study and strive to conform (adjust) ourselves to the example of our heavenly Father.

1 Peter 1:15-16  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; [16] Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. [KJV] . . . Surely Jesus can expect  more from His followers, than from others. Surely more love and mercy will be found in them than in others. Let us humbly beg God to enable us to prove ourselves to be His children. Let us humbly ask for power and a soft tender heart that we can “bless those who curese us, do good to those who hate us, and pray for those who  spitefully use us and persecute us.We cannot do it alone! It is far beyond us. We must have Jesus’ help, and when He is there, we most definitely can do it! The Bible says so!

Philippians 4:13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. [KJV] A perfect and strong trust in God’s grace is a must to be His child. We must be devoted and dedicated to Jesus. We must practice this in all we do, in every condition, and towards all people. The Bible is the Christian’s rule book.  We are to live by its words.

“BUT I SAY UNTO YOU”
Chapter 7
Cities That Do Not Repent???

Matthew 11:20-24 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: [21] Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. [22] But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. [23] And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. [24] But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. [KJV]  . . . Tyre, Sidon, and Sodom were ancient cities with a long-standing reputation for wickedness (Genesis 18-19; Ezekiel 27-28). Each of these cities was destroyed by God for its evil. The people of Bethsaida, Chorazin, and Capernaum saw Jesus firsthand, yet they stubbornly refused to repent of their sins and believe in Him.
Unbelief is a deadly sin indeed! (John 16:9). Jesus told these unbelieving cities that they would be worse off than Tyre, Sidon and Sodom. They would suffer even greater punishment than that of the wicked cities who had not seen Jesus. But what about today? Nations and cities with churches on every corner and Bibles in every home will have NO excuse on Judgment Day if they do not repent and believe.

Jesus did not have a ministry in Tyre, Sidon or Sodom; nor did He have His headquarters there as He did in Capernaum. Those cities where He traveled had ‘light’ from our precious Lord, and light makes us responsible. If someone hears (or reads) the good news about Jesus and refuses to believe, only they are responsible for their actions.

Christ knew that the hearts of the Jews were more bitter and hardened against His miracles and doctrines, than those of Tyre and Sidon would have been; therefore their condemnation would be the greater. The Lord exercises His almighty power, but He will punish no one more than they deserve, and He will never withhold any knowledge of the truth from those who long for it (Matthew 5:6).

But I say unto you” are extremely harsh words, and they come from the lips of our gentle Jesus! This strong, bold language comes from the Judge and King! He is in authority (Matthew 28:18). Jesus is God, and He knows everything! These terrifying words should make us sit up and take notice . . . and listen . . . to what He is saying.

When I think of all the people: preachers, deacons, any officer in the church, anyone, who has the Bible at their fingertips, yet have never truly believed and accepted Christ as their Saviour and Lord; it makes me shudder. Those who are far out in the deepest jungle who have never heard of or seen a Bible, will be far better off than they will.
Please consider the words of Jesus. Please read your Bible. You will see that I am not lying to you.

“BUT I SAY UNTO YOU”
Chapter 8
Jesus Greater Than Any Temple???

Matthew 12:1-6  At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. [2] But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. [3] But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; [4] How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? [5] Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? [6] But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. [KJV]  The Pharisees had come up with 39 categories of actions that were forbidden on the Sabbath, based on their interpretation of God’s law and Jewish custom. Harvesting was one of the things that was forbidden. According to the Pharisees, when the disciples picked the wheat and rubbed it in their hands; they were harvesting. Jesus and the disciples picked the grain because they were hungry, not because they would sell it. They were not working on the Sabbath. The Pharisees could not, and did not want to see beyond what they considered the law. They had no room for compassion. They were bound and determined to accuse Jesus of wrongdoing. The law of God allowed Jesus to pick the grain and eat it.

Deut. 23:25 When thou comest into the standing corn of thy neighbour, then thou mayest pluck the ears with thine hand; but thou shalt not move a sickle unto thy neighbour's standing corn. [KJV] . . . They were allowed to pluck a few heads of your neighbor's grain by hand, but they were not allowed to harvest it with a sickle. This was small provision for Christ and His disciples; but they were content with it. The Pharisees did not quarrel with them for taking another man’s corn, but for doing it on the Sabbath day. Christ came to free His followers, not only from the corruptions of the Pharisees, but from their unscriptural rules, and justified what they did. The greatest shall not have their lusts indulged, but the meanest shall have their wants considered. Those labours are lawful on the Sabbath day which are necessary, and Sabbath rest is to froward, not to hinder Sabbath worship. Needful provision for health and food is to be made; but when servants are kept at home, and families become a scene of hurry and confusion on the Lord’s day, to furnish a feast for visitors, or for indulgence, the case is very different. Such things as these, and many others common among professors, are to be blamed. The resting on the Sabbath was ordained for man’s good (Deut.5:14). NO law must be understood so as to contradict its own end. And as Christ is the Lord of the Sabbath, it is fit the day and the work of it should be dedicated to him.

SIX WAYS TO THINK LIKE CHRIST

Reference: Mat. 5:21-22 *** Example: Murder
It’s not enough to: Avoid killing. We must also: Avoid anger and hatred.

Reference: Mat. 5:23-26 *** Offerings
It’s not enough to offer gifts to God and others.
Your heart must be right to have right relationships.

Reference: Mat. 5:27-30 *** Adultery
It’s not enough to avoid adultery. We must keep
our hearts from lusting and be faithful.

Reference: Mat. 5:31-32 *** Divorce
It’s not enough to be legally married. We must work
and live out our marriage commitments

Reference: Mat. 5:33-37 *** Oaths
It’s not enough to make a promise. We must also fulfill it.
We must also avoid casual and irresponsible commitments to God and others.

Reference: Mat. 5:38-47 *** Revenge
It’s not right to seek justice for ourselves, we must allow God to the justice.
We must show mercy and love to others.

I am going to add a seventh subject that I think is extremely important, and one which we all are probably guilty.

Reference: Mat.6:14-15 *** Example: Refusing to forgive
It’s not enough to say we forgive, we must really forgive them.
If we do not truly forgive others, God will not forgive us.

Matthew 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15  But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. [KJV]

We ALL are probably guilty of regularly committing the types of sins with which Jesus was most concerned. In these examples, our struggle with sin is completely exposed. Jesus clearly pointed out what kind of lives would be expected of His followers. Are you living as Jesus taught? I know I fall short!

Matthew 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. [KJV]

Matthew 5:28  But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. [KJV]

Matthew 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. [KJV]

Matthew 5:34  But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: [KJV]

Matthew 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. [KJV]

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; [KJV]

Matthew 11:22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. [KJV]

Matthew 11:24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. [KJV]

Matthew 12:6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. [KJV]

Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. [KJV]

Matthew 17:12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. [KJV]
