NO Escape from God’s Wrath or Judgment

Exodus 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. [KJV] . . . God’s Name is special because it carries His personal identity. Using it for no good reason or in a curse or blasphemy, as is so common today, is a SIN against Almighty God. Millions fail to realize just how serious this is. The way that we use God’s Name reveals how we really feel about Him. We should ALWAYS respect and reverence His Holy Name and use it properly, speaking it only in praise or worship, NEVER in a curse or vulgar joke. We should NEVER take lightly the abuse or dishonor of His Name. The Lord will not hold anyone guiltless that takes His Name in vain. He will always punish the sins of those who hate Him.

Using the Lord’s name "in vain" means blasphemy. This is extremely common today. It is rare that a TV program or movie does not blaspheme God in some way. It is WRONG to use God’s Name in vain because He is God and He is Holy! It also reveals a lack of vocabulary. Many people cannot express themselves without using profanity. Someone once said: “When I was converted, I lost over half of my vocabulary!” I know what he meant. How does this Law apply to us in the New Testament? Taking the Lord’s Name in vain is a SIN (1 Cor.12:3; Col.3:8).

Isaiah 2:10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty. [KJV] . . . A poetical wauy of saying that because of their sins, they would try to find a hiding place from His wrath (Rev.6:151-6). NO one will be able to HIDE from God's Wrath . . . NO one! Dust could refer to hiding in caves.

Isaiah 2:12-19 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: [13] And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan, [14] And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up, [15] And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall, [16] And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures. [17] And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. [18] And the idols he shall utterly abolish. [19] And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. [KJV] . . . Cedars and oaks is a symbol for proud nobles and princes (Amos 2:9; Zech. 11:1-2; Rev. 19:18-21). Bashan is east of Jordan, north of the Jabbok River; famous for fine oaks, pasture, and cattle. Oaks here may be referring to idolatry (Isa.1:29). High hills refers to the "high places" on which sacrifices were offered to idols. Come Judgment Day, God shall utterly demolish ALL idolatry! Hiding in caves will do NO good. There will be NO escape whatsoever from God’s judgment, no matter where you go. Finding you will be NO problem at all!

Isaiah 2:20-21 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; [21] To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. [KJV] . . . This applies to sinners who finally realize that they have sinned against God and are ready to leave everything that they have that their soul may be saved. Hiding in mountains will do NO good. There will be absolutely NO escape from God’s judgment. Consider this!

Amos 9:1-4 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered. [2] Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down: [3] And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them: [4] And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good. [KJV] . . . The Lord stands on the idolatrous altar at Bethel, to direct destruction of it AND the idolatrous nation. So many in today’s world “profess” to be “Christians,” BUT, if they go along with the world, God will destroy them along with the evil world. He KNOWS a person’s heart! He CANNOT be fooled! Psalm 139:7-16 tells us there is NO place we can go to get away from God. This is good news for believers (God’s children), but bad news for unbelievers (the devil’s children, 1 John 3:10).

************************************

Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? [KJV] . . . Jesus called the scribes and Pharisees some awful names (Mat.23:13-33). The scribes and Pharisees were enemies to the Gospel of Christ, and to the salvation of men’s souls . . . just like cults today. It is bad for a person to keep away from Christ, but it is much worse to keep others from Him (Mat.18:6). Supposed or pretended godliness (2 Tim.3:5) is a thick veil behind which false professors hide. Hypocrisy shall be judged. There will be NO place to hide!

************************************

Rev.6:15-17 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; [16] And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: [17] For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? [KJV] . . . Rulers who showed no fear of God and flaunted their unbelief will find that they were wrong, and in that day they will have to face God’s wrath. No one who has rejected God can survive the day of His wrath, nor can anyone hide from it . . . but those who belong to Christ will receive a reward rather than punishment.
